I am a post-menopausal woman entering into her mage years, mother to five children and emerging mental health educator.
I began my career in motherhood at age 22. I approached the birth of each new soul with consciousness, learning crucial things about myself from each of my 6 births, as well as how to manage a large family with a large age-range and various diverse needs. My experiences of birth and motherhood have spanned hospital and home-birth, late-term miscarriage, post-partum depression, and caring for a newborn baby with a life-threatening illness.
Professionally, I facilitated a Steiner-inspired playgroup for many years, supporting and mentoring mothers with children under 5, as well as coordinating Steiner teacher training courses and writing professional development programs for teachers based in anthroposophical principles. I have facilitated various craft workshops, including the well-known Crafting a SacRed Yoni (with Yia Alias); built and edited websites; and worked as a caterer for small groups – all the while developing an artistic handwork aesthetic, initially based around Steiner handwork principles and now transitioning to archetypal and symbolic works.
At age 41, when my perimenopause began, long-buried trauma began to resurface. The decade of my forties has been a turbulent journey of family breakdown, housing and financial survival challenges, psychological descent and destabilisation – and then newfound stability, emerging purpose and strengthening. Newly post-menopause, I experienced a strong call-to-action to share the wisdom gained around mental health, synthesised from my unique lived-experience and the way I walk through life.
I have been completing post-graduate psychology studies for the past six years, initially started in order to facilitate self-understanding, and now for the activation of my mission: an emerging professional path of education and advocacy in the realm of complex trauma, with a focus on survivors of ritual abuse and organised extreme abuse.
